A MAJOR Accomplishment2 years after accepting my offer to the University of Washington, I took the next MAJOR step towards graduation as I can now say I am officially studying Human Centered Design & Engineering! It's been a rollercoaster of 2 years with a lot of highs and lows, celebrations and sacrifices, but it was all worth it! I had to give up a lot of opportunities and had plenty of long, stressful nights, but it happened! Here's to another great 2 years coming up!

McCarty McCarnival
The McCarty McCarnival. Probably one of the biggest events I have ever planned. My main role in Hall Council was to set up a new tradition for McCarty Hall, and Hall Council decided that we wanted to do a spring carnival. This event took months of planning and a lot of coordination, and a few late nights. A lot of people helped plan this event and we all bonded over this experience. In the end, this ended up being one of the most fun events that I have planned and I really enjoyed putting it on!
Knowing When to Quit (And Being OK with It)
Sometimes, things don't work out. No matter what you do, how you study, or how much help you get, some classes won't make sense. For me, that class was CSE 414. In the entire time I was in the class, I felt overwhelmed and that everything was going above my head. Add in the stress of needing to get into a major/potentially needing a transfer, and the stress was overwhelming. This led to a lot of long nights, tears, and bad mental breakdowns. After a few weeks, and especially after getting into HCDE, I realized that I needed to stop. I could have forced myself to go on with the class, but the toll it had on my mental health was too significant. Yet, even with that reasoning, it was hard for me to drop the class. However, I realized that dropping one class and having 1 W7 was not going to have a huge impact on my academic career, but would greatly improve my mental health. Sometimes we get so caught up in grades and finishing everything we start that we forget that it is okay to quit sometimes, and that our mental health is more important than a class.
*Spoiler Alert: I took the INFO version of the class (INFO 330) over Summer 2019 and 4.0'ed it, so sometimes it can be circumstance, your mental health at the time, and/or the professors' way of teaching that can also help aid/hinder your learning
